Michael Barrymore couldn't find a star pal to accompany him on 'Celebrity Coach Trip' so has roped in his friend Morris to come with him

Michael Barrymore couldn't find a star pal to accompany him on 'Celebrity Coach Trip'.

The TV presenter is taking part in the celebrity version of the Channel 4 show but was unable to persuade a famous person to join him, so has taken his friend Morris with him instead.

An insider said: "It's the first time a non-celebrity has been on 'Celebrity Coach Trip'."

In the show - which will air this summer - star couples travel around Europe on a bus and vote off the people they don't like.

Michael and Morris are joined by Katie Price's make-up artist Gary Cockerill and his handiman husband Phil Turner, former WAG Lizzie Cundy and model Emma B, ex Liberal Democrat Lembit Opik and Alex Best and 'Big Brother' stars Brian Belo and Spencer Smith.

Last month, Jodie Marsh pulled out of the show over Michael's involvement.

Model Jodie, 32, said there was "no way" she would share a coach with the controversial TV personality, who she has accused of bullying her while in the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house in 2006.

Can't wait to see the programme when it is aired in the Summer, I'm sure Michael will make a great impression on all the passengers and will prove to be very popular. I'm glad that he has chosen to pair up with a friend as opposed to a "celeb" because I think he will be more relaxed and he will show people just what a lovely guy he really is, very down to earth but also very entertaining. Despite the awful press that he has to endure on a regular basis, he is still extremely popular with all his thousands of fans. I for one, wish him a great time on this coach trip and send love and good wishes to him.

Could someone please explain just what makes most of those taking part "celebrities"? Katie Price's make-up artist Gary Cockerill and his handiman husband Phil Turner, former WAG Lizzie Cundy and model Emma B, ex Liberal Democrat Lembit Opik and Alex Best and 'Big Brother' stars Brian Belo and Spencer Smith. Most of these are "famous by association" or have attained £celebrity2 status be appearing on tacky reality shows. The only real noteworthy person other than Michael is an ex-MP who'll now attend the opening of an envelope! Michael Barrymore has talent, but the majority of the media only want to show the bad side; unfortunately he has now had to demean himself by taking part in trash such as this as the TV companies won't give him the vehicle he deserves.
