'X Factor' bosses have been forced to axe auditions in front of the TV judges "indefinitely" because the final panel hasn't been decided.
The try-outs for the latest series of the ITV1 talent show were set to start in two weeks in London but have been cancelled as producers are keen to find out dates when programme chief Simon Cowell can attend.
The music mogul has hinted he won't take part in the eighth series of the show so he can concentrate on launching the US version later this year, but bosses are worried ratings will drop if he's not involved so are keen to work the schedule around him.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "It's looking likely that ITV and Cowell have come to some kind of truce where he will still have a presence on the show."
Instead of starting on April 26, auditions are now set to take place "in May or June".
As well as Simon being a doubt for the panel, Cheryl Cole also looks set to leave as she is being lined up for a judging role on the US version.
Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh are expected to return although they are yet to sign contracts.
