Laidback Luke, Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, Beardyman, Nero and many more join 2011’s RockNess line-up

New acts announced for RockNess including the launch of the new Rock’n’Roll Circus Arena and Soma’s 20th birthday celebrations at the Arcadia Afterburner
Tons and tons of new names have been announced for this year’s RockNess, in addition to the acts already announced some weeks back. Laidback Luke, The Japanese Popstars, The Boxer Rebellion, Morning Parade, Twilight Sad, Nero, Skrillex, Beardyman, Sub Focus (live), Sons & Daughters, Broken Records, Chapel Club, Jim Jones Revue, Dog is Dead and Sound of Guns have been announced across the weekend.
The festival also announced a new Rock’n’Roll Circus Arena with a mix of music and comedy. Hosted by indie/electro night Propaganda on the Friday with Sound of Arrows and Worship announced so far. The Saturday will see performances from Jamie Woon, Wolf Gang, Emeli Sande, The Good Natured and Yaaks while Aberdeen club SNAFU takes over the Arena at night with Ivan Smagghe, Jesse Rose, Big Foot’s Tea Party and Mothership. Sunday’s line-up includes The Smoke Fairies, Boy & Bear, Lucy Rose, Pete Roe, Story Books and the two hour spectacular that is ‘An Audience with the Cuban Brothers’.
As Glasgow’s Soma Records celebrate their 20th anniversary they are taking charge of the Arcadia Afterburner for three days. Friday features sets from Erol Alkan, Paul Ritch (live), Heidi and Ewan Pearson; Saturday’s line-up includes Pan-Pot, Funk D’Void, Alex Under, Gary Beck, Master H and Harvey McKay and finally Sunday will be rocked by Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, Sunday Circus and Jamie Jones.
‘We think this is a great announcement and shows the strength and depth of this year's line up,' adds Festival Director Jim King. ‘Laidback Luke is one of the most exciting DJs of the last two years and it’s great to welcome him, Nero, Skrillex and Sub Focus to the festival for the first time. I’m also particularly excited about some of the new emerging acts like Jamie Woon, Wolfgang and Smoke Fairies who will make the new Rock’n’Roll Circus a really great addition to the festival.
