Michael Sheen is set to guest star in 'Doctor Who'.

The 'Tron: Legacy' actor - who has portrayed the likes of former Prime Minister Tony Blair and journalist David Frost throughout his lengthy Hollywood career - has been confirmed to voice a character in the upcoming series of the BBC One sci-fi show.

While no further details of the Welsh star's involvement in the show have yet been revealed, 'Doctor Who' writer Neil Gaiman - who penned the episode Michael is set to appear in - confirmed his appearance.

Former 'Coronation Street' actress Suranne Jones will also be featuring alongside the 42-year-old star, playing a new character named Idris.

However, in the past, Michael has admitted he wouldn't be comfortable taking over the role of the time-travelling Doctor, particularly if he had to follow "terrific" tenth Doctor David Tennant.

He said: "I wouldn't like to be the person who takes over from David. He did such a wonderful job. I did a film with him called 'Bright Young Things' and he was fantastic. Everything I've seen him in, he's been terrific."

Also set to guest star in the upcoming series of 'Doctor Who' are supermodel Lily Cole, comedians James Corden and David Walliams, 'Downton Abbey' star Hugh Bonneville and 'Open All Hours' actress Lynda Baron.
