Kate Garraway has tried her hand at stand-up comedy, but admits she won't be trading in her TV career for a job as a comedienne anytime soon

Kate Garraway could soon be trading in her career in TV for a job as a stand-up comic.

The 'Daybreak' presenter - who has interviewed the likes of Frank Skinner, Al Murray and Jimmy Carr on the ITV1 breakfast show - recently signed up for a stand-up comedy course and was even daring enough to stand up in front of a live audience and showcase her new skills.

Over the course of her rib-tickling five-minute routine, Kate admitted she had once been confused with Vanessa Feltz by a bemused cab driver and joked that while searching for her name online she had found a website entitled Kate Garraway Is A W***e.

Despite being pleased to pick up new skills to add to her TV presenter repertoire, the 43-year-old presenter - who also runs discount website - admitted the experience was one of the "most nerve-wracking" things she has ever done.

She explained: "It's was one of the most nerve wracking things I've ever done. I'm used to doing live TV but this is totally different. The audience are right in front of you, and if your routine falls flat you just die out there. You can be the judge of whether that happened to me!

"It's really an amazing experience and even though I think it's highly unlikely I will continue doing professional stand-up comedy I'm really glad that I can say I've done it and it was a lot of fun."

To celebrate Comic Relief Kate Garraway has teamed up with The Comedy School to offer everyone the chance to try their hand at stand up comedy.

Kate's discount website is offering a 3-hour comedy training taster session with a headlining comedian for just £25 - that's 50% off the full price of £50.
