Lynda Baron is set to guest star in the sixth series of 'Doctor Who'.

The 'Open All Hours' actress - who played vivacious nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the '70s sitcom - is reportedly due to appear opposite actor and comedian James Corden in an upcoming episode of the BBC One sci-fi drama.

With 'Gavin and Stacey' star James reprising his role as landlord Chris Owens, who provided a home for the time-travelling Time Lord - played by Matt Smith - when he investigated a bizarre alien time machine in series five, Lynda's appearance will mark her third time on 'Doctor Who'.

The 71-year-old actress first appeared on the show in 1966 when she sang the 'Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon' in one-off episode 'The Gunfighters', before returning in 1983 to star in the sci-fi serial as Captain Wrack in the 'Enlightenment' storyline.

In addition to Lynda's rumoured appearance in the show, leading man Matt Smith recently revealed a whole host of other famous faces - including model Lily Cole, comedian David Walliams and 'Downton Abbey' actor Hugh Bonneville - are set to star in the upcoming series of 'Doctor Who'.

He said: "I do think we've got one of the greatest monsters, especially during my tenure on the show, but I think in the history of it, it's a real cracker.

"We've also got some great guests stars. We've got Lily Cole, Hugh Bonneville, David Walliams, so it's really exciting."
