Edinburgh is a great city for travelling with children
1 Our Dynamic Earth
Just up the road from Holyrood, Our Dynamic Earth is perfect for a rainy day, with lots of interactive exhibits to keep the whole family amused.
2 National Museum of Scotland
Museums may not be top of your children’s must-do lists, but the NMS on Chambers Street has much to keep the most inquisitive minds occupied.
3 Portobello beach
On a fine summer day, head to Portobello Beach for a slice of sun, sea and sand. The sand is clean, there
are plenty of nearby facilities and it’s only a 20-minute bus ride from the city centre.
4 The Meadows
To the south of the city centre, right behind the main university campus, the Meadows used to be
a loch, but is now a public park, perfect for fresh-air activities, with tennis courts and a fantastic playpark suitable for all ages.
5 The Edinburgh Dungeon
The Edinburgh Dungeon explores 500 years of dark history
in the city, and uses exhibits, animatronics and real actors to scare the pants off visitors. For older children and brave parents only.
