There are many other towns and cities within easy reach of Scotland's capital
1 North Berwick
The launch of regular rail services from London in the 1880s established this seaside town as the ‘Biarritz of the North’. Today it is a great day trip, especially for golfers and families.
It’s often said that Glasgow and Edinburgh are bitter rivals, and while some friendly banter does exist, it’s definitely worth a trip to the west at some point.
3 St Andrews
In the picturesque East Neuk of Fife, St Andrews is best known for it’s love of golf, but there are plenty of attractions to keep you busy, from the historic St Andrews Cathedral to the gorgeous West Sands beach.
Scotland’s smallest city still has plenty going for it, from the iconic Wallace Monument to Stirling Castle – you’ll get amazing views of the city and surrounding countryside from the top of both.
On the banks of the River Tay, there has been a settlement on the site of Perth since prehistoric times, and it was effectively the capital when the Kings of Scotland were crowned at nearby Scone Palace.
