David Bowie has sent a message of support to wish Nile Rogers well in his cancer battle.

The legendary 'Space Oddity' singer and songwriter rarely appears or speaks publicly anymore, but today (03.02.11) sent a message to the producer wish him well in his present battle against cancer. The pair previously worked together on David's records 'Fame' in 1983 and 'Black Tie White Noise' in 1993.

The message on www.davidbowie.com stated: "All our love and support goes out to you, Nile, you are the greatest. David, and all at BowieNet."

Nile - who was the guitarist in funk band Chic and has produced records for some of the biggest names in pop including Michael Jackson and Madonna - revealed he has been suffering from cancer since October 2010 last month, adding he had kept it secret, as he didn't want his family to worry.

Describing his experience he said: "I found out I had aggressive cancer. In an instant, everything in my happy-music universe imploded. It was like Jaws was savagely eating me from the inside out."

The 58-year-old musician has also blogged about his experiences in posts titled 'Walking On Planet C' on his website. In recent weeks he has showed positive signs of progress, however, and is even hoping to play live again before the end of the year.
