First Dancing On Ice line-up revealed
Kerry Katona, Vanilla Ice and Angela Rippon are among the first eight contestants battling it out in this weekend's 'Dancing On Ice'
Kerry Katona, Vanilla Ice and Angela Rippon are among the first eight contestants taking part in this weekend's 'Dancing On Ice'.
As part of changes to the show's format, the trio - alongside former 'Coronation Street' actor Steven Arnold, TV presenters Laura Hamilton and Jeff Brazier, actress Nadia Swahala and Victoria Cross hero Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry - will battle it out in the hope of making it through to the competition stage of the ITV1 series.
While girls and boys have traditionally competed against each other in the first show, in this year's series the bottom three contestants - male or female - will perform in a skate-off, and the two with the lowest proportion of public votes will immediately be axed.
Meanwhile, the rest of the show's contestants, including 'Hollyoaks' actress Jennifer Metcalfe, 'Loose Women' panellist Denise Welch and former-WAG Elen Rivas, will battle it out the following week, leaving a total of 12 stars going through to the next stage in the competition.
Former Olympic ice skating champions Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean - who are 'Dancing On Ice' mentors - explained the changes to the format were made to increase the excitement surrounding the series.
Jane said: "We are starting with 16 celebrities! The first show will have eight of them, and the second show will be eight of them and only six will go through from each of those shows.
"We have a lot of celebrities that are nervous and excited at the same time!"
