Matt Baker has been offered the role of 'The One Show' host.

The TV star - who stood in as frontman for the BBC One show after Jason Manford quit last month - is expected to accept the deal, reportedly worth £200,000, and will team up with co-host Alex Jones to present the show on Monday to Thursday evenings.

Meanwhile, Chris Evans has already been signed-up to host the show on Friday nights.

A source close to the 'Countryfile' presenter told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Before he signs, the things important to him are to continue working on 'Countryfile' and to go on the 'Strictly' tour next year.

"It looks like he will be able to do both those things and present 'The One Show', so he's happy."

Matt is believed to have been selected for the post after bringing an element of fun to the show when he made Alex practice his dance moves as he battled to win celebrity dance contest 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Matt - who along with professional dancer partner Aliona Vilani was a runner-up on the show - recently said: "Alex and I have little dances around the dressing room. She's interested in it so you never know if you'll see her there next year!"

Matt will replace married comedian Jason Manford, who quit 'The One Show' after confessing to having sexy online chats with fans.
