Ann Widdecombe's Strictly highlight
Ann Widdecombe thinks appearing on 'Strictly Come Dancing' was the highlight of her entire year
'Strictly Come Dancing' was the highlight of Ann Widdecombe's year.
The former Conservative minister - who bowed out of the BBC One show just one week before the semi-finals - explained she had a "whale of a time" on the celebrity dancing contest.
She said: "Without a doubt it's been the highlight of my year. It's completely different to anything I've ever done before and I had a whale of a time.
"It's good, wholesome family entertainment that everybody can watch - glittery, very showy and really good fun."
The 63-year-old star also admitted dancing was a "wonderful relief" from the pressures of politics.
Ann added: "Well, it's a lot more relaxing, of course! When you're in politics, everything you do affects people for better or worse. If I fall down on the floor on 'Strictly', I can't hurt anybody else.
"Nothing I do on 'Strictly' - unless I happen to kick Anton Du Beke rather hard - can possibly affect anybody else. It's a wonderful relief."
