Cher Lloyd was voted off 'The X Factor' last night (11.12.10) in the first part of this weekend's final.
The 17-year-old hopeful - who had been in the bottom two twice prior to her elimination from the ITV1 show - kicked off her performances with a mash-up of 'Clapping Song' by The Belle Stars and Missy Elliot's 'Get Your Freak On'.
However, the young star's highlight of the evening - and perhaps the series as a whole - was taking to the stage with will.i.am to duet on two of the band's hits 'Where Is The Love' and 'I Gotta Feeling', which the teen's mentor Cheryl Cole described as the "perfect collaboration".
She said: "I saw something in you Cher the second you walked in that audition room. You are here in the final tonight no matter what controversy you've faced and I hope to see you smashing it again."
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell - who has been a staunch supporter of the controversial star - confessed Cher was his "favourite little brat".
He told her: "Using one of Cheryl's expressions I'm going to say you smashed that. This is why I am happy we put you through. You are my favourite little brat with a heart of gold. My favourite performance of yours so far."
Despite being visibly emotional after being told by host Dermot O'Leary she had received the lowest proportion of the public vote, Cher held it together and thanked her fans and the show's judges for believing in her.
She said: "Thank you to everybody that ever believed in me. My highlight is standing on this stage with will.i.am and I thank everyone who arranged that for me and to him."
Remaining finalists Rebecca Ferguson, Matt Cardle and boyband One Direction will now take to the stage tonight (12.12.10) in the hope of being crowned winner of 'The X Factor'.
