'Coronation Street' actress Jennie McAlpine expects plenty of tears from tonight's (06.12.10) 50th anniversary episode.

The 26-year-old actress - who plays feisty redhead Fiz Stape in the ITV1 soap - explained the explosive tram crash scenes promise to be "pretty special".

She said: "It's going to be amazing. Seeing the tram and all the fire and the explosions was pretty special. I can't tell you exactly what happens, but Fiz is caught up in it all, and I reckon there'll be quite a few tears."

Despite having appeared in the show for almost 10 years, Jennie admitted she doesn't plan on leaving anytime soon, as she feels there is plenty of room for her character to grow.

She explained: "Fiz has grown up and so have I, I suppose. I feel like there's lots to do but, at the same time, I love 'Corrie' and it still feels exciting.

"There are still lots of places Fiz could go."
