will.i.am wants to sign Cher Lloyd
Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.am wanted to sign Cher Lloyd the moment he saw her perform at the judges' houses stage of 'The X Factor'
will.i.am is keen to sign The X Factor's Cher Lloyd.
The Black Eyed Peas rapper - who helped mentor Cheryl Cole select her finalists for the live stages of the ITV show - was surprised the Geordie judge had to even think about who she would be taking through, as the 17-year-old singer's talent is a "no-brainer".
He explained: "I really liked that girl Cher. When I first saw her I started giggling, I couldn't help myself. I was laughing because her talent is such a no-brainer. Cheryl was like, 'What's wrong?' and I was like, 'I'm laughing because she's so awesome!' I think she's going to do something great.
"I would sign her. I'd sign her tomorrow, today, yesterday. I wanted to sign her as I left the house."
However, the 'I Gotta Feeling' hitmaker thinks Cher needs to make sure she is represented by the right people, otherwise her music could end up being "too bubblegum".
will.i.am added to X Magazine: "I'd make edgy hip-hop. With a bit of pop and electro thrown in. It would have to have lots of attitude but be melodic at the same time.
"I mean she's like a ball of energy and I don't think she knows what to do with that energy. It comes out in a number of ways. And my fear is that if she doesn't hook up with the right creative people she's going to end up being too bubblegum."
