June Brown signs up for Strictly Christmas special
'EastEnders' legend June Brown will be the oldest contestant ever to star on 'Strictly Come Dancing' when she appears in its Christmas Day special.
June Brown has signed up to star in the 'Strictly Come Dancing' Christmas special.
The 'EastEnders' legend - who plays chain-smoking Dot Cotton in the BBC One soap - will at the age of 83 be the oldest contestant ever to appear in the show.
June - who has been paired with professional dancer Vincent Simone for the one-off special, which will be aired on Christmas Day (25.12.10) - admitted she must be "barmy" to have agreed to appear in the celebrity dance contest
She said: "I am terrified and apprehensive about what I've let myself in for. I must be barmy and I'm not sure what's come over me.
"I just hope I can remember the steps to the routines. I'm looking forward to working with the professional dancers and the other contestants."
The legendary actress will be joined by four other couples, including TV host Fern Britton, who will dance with Matthew Cutler, and 'Torchwood' star John Barrowman, who is to be paired up with blonde beauty Kristina Rihanoff.
Meanwhile, MP Vince Calcle - who is a keen ballroom dancer in his spare time - will compete with Erin Boag, while comedian Ronni Ancona will dance with Anton du Beke.
Fern recently admitted she is "thrilled" to be appearing in 'Strictly...'.
She said: "I am also very thrilled and really looking forward to the spray tan, false eyelashes and sequins."
