Matt Cardle thinks Katie Waissel is only in 'The X Factor' because she makes good TV.

The 27-year-old singer - who is one of the favourites to win the ITV1 competition - admitted seeing Aiden Grimshaw leave after last weekend's controversial sing-off was "like losing a brother", and he only lost out to the kooky blonde because she "gets the show attention".

He explained: "I'm shocked and devastated. It's like losing a brother. I was surprised by the result. When it went to Katie and Aiden in the bottom two, I didn't think he would go. Even when it went to deadlock I thought he would stay.

"I was shocked when Simon sent him home, but then Katie is better for the show than Aiden is. She gets the coverage, she gets the show attention. Aiden just isn't like that but he is a much better singer. In terms of the show Aiden was expendable.

"I don't feel safe in the competition after this. Anything can happen. Everyone in the house is gutted. No one expected this."

The hunky hopeful also hit out at fellow contestant Wagner Fiuza-Carrilho, and has pleaded with 'X Factor' fans not to keep the eccentric Brazilian in the talent competition any longer.

Matt added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The whole Wagner thing, enough is enough. The joke is over now and people should be voting for the singers.

"People would mind leaving the competition less if Wagner wasn't still in it. He's an alright guy but he can't sing. I would be gutted if I went home before Wagner, I'm sure Aiden is."
