Joe Thomas' Inbetweeeners humiliation
Joe Thomas has admitted revealing his testicle to an unsuspecting audience on 'The Inbetweeners' was just one of the ''cripplingly embarrassing'' moments he had to endure on the show.
Joe Thomas admits revealing his testicle on 'The Inbetweeners' was a "humiliating" experience.
The 27-year-old actor - who plays unlucky-in-love Simon Cooper in the E4 teen comedy - explained having to bare all for a scene which saw his alter-ego take part in a school fashion show was just one of his "cripplingly embarrassing" moments on the show.
He told BANG Showbiz: "That was my real testicle. I was offered a prosthetic but I kind of thought, 'It's not as if if I have a prosthetic I'll retain my dignity'. The dignity was gone already. It was pretty horrible actually because the audience weren't told what was going to happen so they got a real reaction. The humiliation was awful!
"Having done it once and got it out of the way I thought it was over, but then I had to do it again at all sorts of different angles. So it was humiliating and boring, which is an unusual combination and not one I thought was possible. Apparently it is.
"There was a pretty crippling embarrassing scene in the bedroom I had to do but the testicle scene was probably number one."
Joe went on to add that he believes the comedy in the British show will be easily transferable when 'The Inbetweeners' makes its US debut on MTV.
Speaking at the Galaxy National Book Awards at BBC Television Centre, he said: "I think they'll do the show really well in America. They kind of invented that whole teen comedy and we borrowed it so now they're just taking it back really.
"There will obviously be cultural differences but for the most part it's just four boys doing silly things to impress girls."
