'Coronation Street' actress Kym Marsh has admitted she loves playing feisty Michelle Connor in the ITV1 soap because getting in so many cat fights is ''thoroughly enjoyable''.
Kym Marsh loves 'Coronation Street' cat fights.
The actress - who plays feisty Michelle Connor in the ITV1 soap - revealed she relishes being given the opportunity to fight with her female co-stars, as it's a "thoroughly enjoyable" experience.
She told BANG Showbiz: "Having been in many myself, I have to admit that I do love a good old 'Corrie' cat fight. I can assure you they're throughly enjoyable to be in and I imagine they're very enjoyable to watch."
However, while Kym loves the argumentative side of her alter-ego's character, she is just one in a long line of cast members who was only meant to be in the soap for a couple of episodes.
David Neilson - who plays Roy Cropper - explained: "Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) came in as the first in a series of unsuccessful relationships for Roy, but she was so good that the script went in another direction.
"Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) had a two episode contract and stayed for 31 years, and even Kym only had a four episode contract."
Despite transgender Hayley only originally intended to be in the soap for a couple of episodes, she is now one of the most recognisable characters in 'Coronation Street'.
Speaking at the BFI 'Coronation Street' 50th Anniversary panel discussion, David added: "I always get people coming up to me in the morning going, 'Is it really a bloke?'
"You don't know how much they've invested in the show so you can't diss them."
