Fifth judge to join The X Factor?
Simon Cowell is reportedly lining up a fifth judge to join 'The X Factor', following last weekend's controversy which saw Cheryl Cole refuse to vote
A fifth judge is set to join 'The X Factor'.
Huge controversy was caused on the ITV1 talent show last weekend when Treyc Cohen - who faced Katie Waissel in the sing-off - was eliminated from the competition after mentor Cheryl Cole refused to choose between her two acts.
Simon Cowell - who is joined on the judging panel by Cheryl, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh - now reportedly wants to spice things up with the addition of a new judge to ensure such a fiasco doesn't happen again.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "The idea is 90 per cent a done deal. Simon is still figuring out exactly how it will work.
"On one level it could mean that if one of the judges opted out of voting it could still go to deadlock if the others were split 2-2. But the danger is if they all had voting rights and chose to vote it would never go to deadlock.
"Simon has always thought a guest judge on live shows would bring some extra drama to the proceedings. And he hopes they will shoot from the hip and put a rocket under the rest of the judges, who often bite their tongues."
Stars who are believed to be in line for the role include Take That singer Gary Barlow, Sir Elton John, and Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger, who appeared as a guest judge in the Boot Camp stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, under-fire Katie Waissel is set to have hypnotherapy to help beat stage fright after telling mentor Cheryl she may "lose it" on stage.
A friend said: "This is a cry for help. She's at her wits' end and beginning to crack. She fluffed her lines on last week's show and is terrified the same thing will happen again. She's really worried about stage fright."
