Matt Baker to take on West End?
'Strictly Come Dancing' favourite Matt Baker has revealed taking part in the BBC One show has encouraged him to pursue a career in London's West End theatre district.
Matt Baker is keen to land a role in the West End.
The TV presenter - who is one of the favourites to win this year's series of 'Strictly Come Dancing' - has revealed taking part in the BBC One show has inspired him to tread the boards of London's West End theatre district.
He explained: "I would love to do the West End. The feeling that you have when you go out on a Saturday night, it just takes over your whole body and you feel like you are in a dream state.
"I get so nervous when I go out there, but I know as the weeks go on and if I can get over that, the feeling will just get better and better. I just hope that I get the chance to go to the next level and build up my confidence."
However, despite receiving rave reviews from the 'Strictly' judging panel - Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman and Craig Revel Horwood - Matt admitted he and professional partner Aliona Vilani often get their routines wrong in rehearsals, and it's pure luck if they nail it on the live show.
Matt added to Digital Spy: "The style that we create is that we risk it. The week with the Charleston, that could have ended in tears. I came an absolute cropper in rehearsals. We did the Charleston four times in rehearsals and we only got it right once.
"We are always on the edge. We don't ever hit our performance and nail it on Wednesday, we are literally still giving it a go just before we go out in the corridor on Saturday nights. It's stupid and so risky. But I like that."
