Matt Smith has revealed he wants The Doctor to fight the Cybermen in the next series of BBC One sci-fi show 'Doctor Who'
Matt Smith wants to face the Cybermen in the next series of 'Doctor Who'.
The actor is yet to properly face The Doctor's infamous enemies since he took on the role of the Time Lord in the BBC One sci-fi show and is hoping the metal-clad monsters will make an appearance again.
He said: "Who would I like to face from the old series? Well I've not really properly faced a Cyberman yet. But I want it to be an old school Cyberman like the ones in 'Tomb of the Cybermen'."
Matt's co-star Karen Gillan - who plays The Doctor's companion Amy Pond - is also keen to take on the silver-suited aliens, even though she battled an injured one last series in the episode 'The Pandorica Opens'.
She said: "I've faced one - a one-armed one. But I would like to face them again."
Matt also revealed he is a huge fan of Patrick Troughton's portrayal of The Second Doctor in the classic series.
During an interview on Radio 1, the 28-year-old star added: "My favourite classic Doctor is Patrick Troughton - the Trought!"
It has previously been revealed that the costume, in particular the trademark bow tie, the Eleventh Doctor wears is heavily influenced by Patrick's Time Lord from the late 60s.
Meanwhile, Matt and Karen signed copies of the new 'Doctor Who' series five DVD box set at the HMV store in Oxford Street, London, today (08.11.10).
Hundreds of fans queued for hours in the rain to meet their heroes with some people even waiting in line from Sunday night (07.11.10) so they could be the first in the queue to get their DVDs autographed.
One lucky boy and girl were the first people to meet Matt and Karen - who came out to greet fans flanked by two Cybermen - and the actor grabbed them and lifted them up for a hug.
