Liam Gallagher to appear on Buzzcocks?
'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' captain Noel Fielding has revealed he wants former Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher to appear on the irreverent music quiz show.
Noel Fielding wants Liam Gallagher to appear on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks'.
The comedian - who is a captain on the irreverent music quiz show - says the former Oasis singer would be perfect for the series because he is hilarious, despite his surly wild man reputation.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Liam Gallagher would be great on 'Buzzcocks' he's really funny. I'd love to have him on but I'm not sure he'd be up for it."
However, Liam is not the only rock star Noel has got his sights on for the show.
The 'Might Boosh' comic thinks Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan would have the audience in hysterics with his unique sense of humour.
He added: "Tom from Kasabian is one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. He's so hilariously abstract and so funny. He'd be great on my team."
Noel claims it is get harder to get musicians on the show because former host Simon Amstell used to ridicule the guests.
He explained: "The problem with 'Buzzcocks' is I think Amstell ruined it for everyone because people are too frightened to come on now, because Amstell used to give them an absolute ripping. But we don't really do that now. It's more of a love-in, it's like the Mad Hatter's tea party, but we're having trouble explaining that to the pop stars. They just think they're going to get ripped.
"Like Mel B came on recently and she looked terrified thinking we were going to really rip her and we didn't really. She was quite defensive because she thought she was going to get attacked but she got into it in the end.
Simon - who quit the series in 2009 - famously provoked Ordinary Boys frontman Preston into walking off set after mocking his then-wife Chantelle Houghton by reading extracts from her autobiography.
