Brian Friedman has become the first star to sign up for the US 'X Factor'.
The 33-year-old choreographer - who is creative director of the UK version of the show - has confirmed he signed a contract to work behind the scenes on Simon Cowell's latest talent comptition late last week.
However, while he "can't wait" to work on the show's US counterpart, he admitted he would rather have been appointed on the judging panel.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It's going to be huge. I can't wait. Simon's going all out to make it an incredible series and he's promised to get some massive stars on the judging panel.
"I'd love to be a judge but, unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen!"
Brian also revealed one of the conditions of the new deal is that he cannot sign up to both the US and UK 'X Factor', which suggests Cheryl Cole would be forced to quit her position on the British series if she is offered a judging slot on the show.
Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger - who impressed Simon when she appeared as a guest judge on the UK show - is also widely rumoured to be joining Cheryl and signing a multi-million dollar contract for America's 'X Factor'.
