John Adeleye was sent home from 'The X Factor' last night (24.10.10).
The care worker from London was voted off by judges in the sing-off against Treyc Cohen, after his version of Kelly Clarkson's 'Because Of You' failed to impress.
The pair found themselves in the sing-off after they were the two acts with the lowest votes from viewers following their performances on Saturday night (23.10.10).
Although Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Danniii Minogue all voted to send John, 30, home - leaving only his mentor, Louis Walsh, voting to keep him in the conversation - he vowed to return.
After hearing of his defeat, he vowed: "I'm going to go home, listen to some music, tear it all up and start again. I will be back."
Treyc had earlier performed Jennifer Hudson's 'One Night Only' in her bid to stay in the competition. On the previous day's show John's performance of 'Zoom' by Fat Larry's Band proved controversial, after judges said his backing dancers - who appeared to be steamily kissing - proved distracting.
Meanwhile, Simon said he thought Treyc's version of Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love' "wasn't going to connect" with the audience.
Eleven acts remain in the competition.
The next round of performances will take place on Saturday (30.10.10).
