Gavin Henson hopes 'Strictly Come Dancing' can help him dance with his daughter when she's older.

The rugby star - who has daughter Ruby, three, and 21-month-old son Dexter with his ex-fiancee Charlotte Church - admits he hopes the skills he learns on the ballroom dance show will stay with him for life.

He told Hello! magazine: "Charlotte said they watched and were dancing for half an hour afterwards.

"They recognised their dada, which is awesome. It would be amazing to get on the dancefloor with my daughter when I'm older."

Despite splitting from Charlotte, the 28-year-old sportsman is determined to be a good "role model" for his offspring.

He said: "I just want to be a good person and a good role model for them. Being a father is the best thing in the world. I have so much fun with my kids. They make me laugh all the time. Ruby is now full of sentences and you can have a conversation with her. Dexter just copies Ruby."

Gavin has also surprised himself with how strong he has been over the past few months since the split.

He added: "Obviously what's gone on is pretty stressful. It's not ideal. I'm dealing with it OK. I've surprised myself how strong I am. When I go through adversity, I get stronger from it. It gives you a certain drive as well."
