Simon Cowell's mother is Strictly fan
'Strictly Come Dancing' presenter Bruce Forsyth has revealed that Simon Cowell's mother Julie is a huge fan of his show.
Simon Cowell's mother is a huge fan of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
Bruce Forsyth - who presents the BBC One ballroom dancing show - admits he has been approached by 'The X Factor' judge's mother Julie, who told him she watches his show every week without fail.
The 82-year-old host told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Simon said we were an afternoon show for old people and it made me laugh really. Simon Cowell's mother came up to me and my wife in Selfridges department store, introduced herself and was very nice.
"She said, 'I love the show, I'm a fan and I watch every week', and all that sort of thing about how much she enjoyed our Saturday night show. She couldn't have been more pleasant. She was a very nice lady actually."
Simon hit the headlines recently by criticising 'Strictly Come Dancing' bosses for refusing to change the time the show is aired, because it was originally planned to clash with the ITV1 reality show. 'Strictly' eventually agreed to alter their time slot to avoid future overlaps with 'The X Factor', but Bruce thinks Simon should have discussed the scheduling problems with his mother first.
He said: "I would like to point out to Simon that I'm sure his mother likes to do a little bit of shopping on a Saturday afternoon which means she would miss our show if we were an afternoon show. So I suggest that Simon gets together with his mother and works out the scheduling."
Bruce has also revealed he is never tempted to tune in and watch the rival show, because there are too many "tears".
He added: "It's not my kind of show, all the tears, I can't take that just like some people can't take 'Strictly'. It's just not my cup of tea."
