Lady Gaga has paid an undisclosed amount on a seven-disc collection of her own recordings, which were due to be put up for auction by her first manager Bob Leone

Lady Gaga has bought a seven-disc collection of her own early recordings.

The 'Alejandro' hitmaker's management purchased the records - which feature unreleased songs dating back to 2002 - for an undisclosed sum after the singer's first manager Bob Leone put the discs up for auction.

Organisers of the Gotta Have It! Rock and Roll Pop Culture auction in New York were originally set to put the recordings up for sale with a minimum bid of $1,000, however the eccentric star was keen to snap up the discs before the auction started.

Gotta Have It! co-founder Peter Siegel explained: "She wanted to purchase them. We sent her an offer on behalf of Bob Leone. She countered and we made a deal."

Included in the collection was a 2002 demo, a pair of recordings from 2005 entitled 'Stefani Germanotta' - the singer's real name - and 'Stefani Germanotta Band', as well as three further discs and a DVD of Lady Gaga's 2006 'Order Sons of Italy in America' showcase performance.
