Jake Roche refuses dad work
'Emmerdale' newcomer Jake Roche admits he wouldn't want to star alongside his 'EastEnders' actor father Shane Ritchie.
Jake Roche wouldn't want to work with his father, Shane Ritchie.
The 17-year-old actor - who plays Isaac Nuttall in 'Emmerdale' - insists he would not have wanted his famous dad to pull strings to get him a role in 'EastEnders' because of his parent's "mischievous" streak.
Jake said: "Even if he'd got me an audition, I'd still have had to prove myself. Also, much as I'd have loved working with my dad, he would have played so many tricks and gags on me. It would have been mayhem!"
The teenage star - whose mother is 'Loose Women' host Coleen Nolan - also spoke of his happiness at his father reprising his role as Alfie Moon in the rival soap.
He said: "I'm really happy for him. He says it feels like he never left."
As well as being close to both Shane and Coleen - who separated when he was six and went on to remarry other people - Jake has also forged a close bond with his dad's co-star Jessie Wallace, who plays his screen wife Kat.
He explained: "She's really lovely. At one point, she became a bit like a second mum to me - she and my dad always got on so well. She's nothing like she is on TV - she's actually quite nice and shy."
