Dan Harris 'deserved Apprentice boot'
'The Apprentice' contestant Dan Harris has admitted he deserved to be the first hopeful fired by Lord Alan Sugar, as he had ''bullied'' his team
'The Apprentice' hopeful Dan Harris "deserved" to be fired by Lord Alan Sugar.
The 34-year-old sales director - who led the boys' team Synergy to failure last night (06.10.10) in a task which saw then take to the streets of London in an attempt to make and sell sausages - admitted he approached his role of Team Leader all wrong, and was a "bully".
He explained: "I spent most of the time watching that episode behind a pillow. I should have been fired. The way I tried to lead that task was to get people around a common objective and then try to make some money, which we did achieve.
"The way I went about it, to bully people, I think was the wrong approach and not my intention. It is certainly not reflective of the way I do business. Business relationships are built over months and years, you have time to formulate a partnership with staff."
Synergy were beaten by the girls' team Apollo - led by Joanna Riley - who made a £321.16 profit, which was narrowly higher than the boys' £305.90.
However, Dan believes the key mistake he made was putting himself forward to be the boss of the boys' team.
He said: "I think it is a poisoned chalice. I think the majority of project managers that have been up first have got fired and I was certainly aware of that.
"As soon as I said, 'Right, I'm going to do this.' I immediately regretted it."
