Barbara Windsor's departure has left a "massive hole" in the 'EastEnders' cast.
Scott Maslen - who plays Jack Branning in the BBC One soap - thinks the show's producers brought back the characters Kat and Alfie (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) purposefully to fill the void the 73-year-old actress left behind.
He told BANG Showbiz: "There's a massive hole without Barbara Windsor. I think that's why they brought back Kat and Alfie to be honest. She was such a massive personality for someone so diminutive. She packs a big punch!
"She's been a legend and an icon for years, even my mum and grandma remember her. She's sorely missed but she worked hard and it's important she enjoys herself now and has a bit of a relax."
The 39-year-old actor - who is appearing in this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing' with professional partner Natalie Lowe - also revealed he often feels like "the incredible hulk" in rehearsals with the .
Scott added: "I actually have moments of rage! I'm like the incredible hulk one minute and the next I'm like, 'I can dance, I'm floating!' It's a rollercoaster of emotions."
However, the hunky star admitted he is not afraid of the fake tan and flamboyant sequined outfits that come with appearing on 'Strictly'.
He said: "I've got nothing to do with my outfits. I've given up on it and accepted there are going to be a few sequins involved. Fake tan? Yeah, why not. Just do what you've got to do."
