Kara Tointon impressed the judges on 'Strictly Come Dancing' last night (02.10.10), despite tripping over on her costume

Kara Tointon topped the leaderboard on last night's (02.10.10) 'Strictly Come Dancing' - despite tripping over her outfit.

The former 'EastEnders' actress and partner Artem Chigvintsev - dazzled the judges with her cha cha cha, scoring 30 points despite catching her foot on the lengthy train attached to her daring leopardprint leotard.

Afterwards, Kara - who was also sporting a tight black collar and fishnet tights - laughed: "I knew the dominatrix was a bad idea. It was the dominatrix look I was going for, and then I fell over! How embarrassing."

However, the judges didn't penalise her for the mishap, with Craig Revel Horwood telling her: "Fabulous recovery from the fall. I know there's a bit of a costume disaster."

Len Goodman added: "Anyone can catch their heel in their tassel or whatever it is, but you're amazing."

Earlier in the evening, Ann Widdecombe was unsurprised to find herself at the bottom of the score sheet, with the judges awarding her and partner Anton du Beke just 17 points for their waltz.

However, the former politician - who received a standing ovation from the audience and other contestants - was not upset by her performance or the judges' feedback.

She laughed afterwards: "If you think that's bad you should see the salsa!"

Rugby star Gavin Henson and partner Katya Virshilas impressed the judges with their waltz.

Len told them: "That was better than good, I tell you for a celebrity male, first week, to create good footwork. You did far better than I could ever imagine, and well done to you."

Former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams was criticised for her "unsteady" waltz, but Tina O'Brien, Jimi Mistry and Peter Shilton were praised for their efforts.

The other seven competing celebrities and their professional partners showcased their work on Friday (01.10.10).

No couples were eliminated from the show this week, meaning all 14 will dance again next weekend.
