Heavy metal bands Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax say they still party as hard as when they last toured together 19 years ago
Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax say they still party as hard as when they last toured together 19 years ago.
The three US heavy metal bands embarked on a landmark tour, 'Clash Of The Titans' in 1991, and have recently reprised it - performing a string of dates across Europe, and presently undertaking a series of US shows under the title 'American Carnage' - however, Slayer guitarist Kerry King said, for him, the partying backstage hasn't got any less.
He told website Spin.com: "I drank a lot then and I probably drink more now. You just get better at it. "Europe was cool. We've done this tour before, so it's like a sequel almost 20 years later. That's cool because some of the fans who are going to be here weren't even alive then."
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian added that the tour is not about nostalgia, because the bands' - who had their heyday in the 80s - music has stood the test of time and is still finding a new, younger, audience today.
He added: "Our 25-year-old music is better than anything else. And we play it better than we've ever played it before.
"Who is better than us? I'm not trying to be arrogant when I say that. It's what I truly believe. And there are generations of kids that never got to see it - not the first time around. We're playing songs that are just timeless."
The 'American Carnage' tour is heading across the US this month.
