Top businesswoman Karren Brady likes being a ''sex symbol'' in her role as an adviser to Lord Alan Sugar on the new series of 'The Apprentice'.

Karren Brady is happy to be The Apprentice's new "sex symbol".

The 41-year-old vice-chairman of West Ham United - who has joined the sixth series of the BBC One show as an adviser to Lord Alan Sugar - is revelling in her new role, but insists she likes to keep her distance from the contestants while she is assessing them during their tasks.

She told BANG Showbiz: "I can assure you no one has tried flirting with me. Nick and I are very conscious of keeping our distance - we're not their friend, we're not their mentor or advisor. Our job is purely to observe so we can give an accurate report when they sit in the boardroom. I do like the sex symbol bit though!"

However, the fashion-conscious businesswoman revealed she had to fork out for her own wardrobe for the show, despite Lord Sugar having an estimated fortune of £830 million.

Karren added: "I wish Lord Sugar gave me a wardrobe allowance! Unfortunately, everything I'm wearing in the show is my own and paid for out of my own pocket."

The sixth series of 'The Apprentice' starts on October 6 at 9pm on BBC One.
