Lord Alan Sugar believes he is ''far superior'' to music mogul Simon Cowell, and it goes without saying that 'The Apprentice' is more entertaining than 'The X Factor'

Lord Alan Sugar believes he is "far superior" to Simon Cowell.

The self-made entrepreneur - who is believed to be worth £830 million - explained despite his reality business show 'The Apprentice' being up against the music mogul's 'X Factor' in the autumn television ratings, his series is much better.

He joked to BANG Showbiz: "Well, it goes without saying that 'The Apprentice' is better. I'm far superior to Cowell for one! We're different. Cowell's got a great entertainment show, with a great old-fashioned format that goes back many years that he's managed to jazz up.

"But we're a completely different show, we're about business. It's like comparing 'EastEnders' with 'Match of the Day'. Who's the real Mr Nasty? I'll let you decide on that one. I'm trying to sell my knighthood on eBay but the queen won't have any of it!" The tough-talking businessman also admitted the contestants from the first series of 'Junior Apprentice' could definitely give the participants from the new sixth series of the BBC One show - which include a cleaner, a surgeon and an unemployed graduate - a "run for their money".

He added: "Refreshingly, the juniors were so fresh out of school that they hadn't got to the stage where they're jockeying for position, they just got on with it and were far more industrious.

"They could certainly give the adults a run for their money when it comes to settling down and getting on with things. For example, the sausage task in episode one of the new series, the juniors could have definitely won - particularly against the boys."

The sixth series of 'The Apprentice' starts on October 6 at 9pm on BBC One.
