Alan Sugar's queue jump shame
Lord Alan Sugar used his fame to queue-jump a plastic surgery waiting list, as he was desperate to get the baggy skin around his eyelids operated on.
Lord Alan Sugar once used his fame to queue-jump a plastic surgery waiting list.
The 'Apprentice' tycoon was waiting to go under the surgeon's knife to have the baggy skin around his eyelids operated on, so he forced the surgery's receptionist to Google his name so he could be fast-tracked to theatre the next day.
Speaking about the incident - which happened in 2006 as the tycoon was recovering from a groin injury in Florida - he said: "I phoned the office of this surgeon and the woman answered the phone, 'Hello, Doctor Figal's surgery.'
"She said, 'I can't book you in for six months because he's so sought after'. I said, 'No, I want it done next week'. And she said, 'Well, we can't do that'.
"I said to her, 'Look, just write this down: Sir Alan Sugar. Have you got a computer, young lady?'
"She said, 'Yes'. I said, 'Put it into Google, all right, and see if he can fit me in a bit earlier.
"She rang back two minutes later, saying, 'Dr Figal will see you tomorrow.' So I pulled a marker there. I feel ashamed."
Although the 63-year-old businessman is "not ashamed" to have had some work done, he insists he won't go under the surgeon's knife again.
He tells TV host Piers Morgan in a TV interview: "That's all I have done. I won't do anything else."
Alan's interview will be shown in the programme 'When Piers Met Lord Sugar', which will be broadcast on ITV on Saturday (02.10.10).
