'Doctor Who' star Matt Smith has revealed his dream guest star on the BBC sci-fi drama is Florence and the Machine frontwoman, Florence Welch.

Matt Smith's dream 'Doctor Who' guest star is Florence Welch.

The 27-year-old actor - who plays the titular character in the BBC One show - admitted the flame-haired Florence and the Machine frontwoman would be his number one choice of co-star, closely followed by French football legend Eric Cantona.

He told the Daily Express newspaper: "Florence from Florence and the Machine - I'd like her to do a guest appearance. I'd quite like Eric Cantona to come and do one too. That would be cool."

Meanwhile, Matt - who was the youngest ever Doctor when he took over the role of the time-travelling Timelord in January this year - is reportedly set to continue working on the sci-fi series until it reaches its 50th anniversary in three years' time.

An insider recently explained: "Matt has made it clear he's keen to commit himself to the series for the long-term.

"The current team believe that Matt is the person to continue taking the show forward over the next few years and want to avoid the prospect of fans having to get used to yet another actor in the role in the near future."
