'X Factor' hopefuls Katie Waissel and Storm Lee performed at a private party for Paris Hilton.
The wannabes - who have made it through to the boot camp stages of the ITV1 talent show - were asked by the hotel heiress to sing at a private party in the Hollywood Hills in March, earning $600 between them.
A source said: "Katie and Storm Lee go back some way, and get on really well. They are very close. At boot camp, Katie name-dropped Paris, telling people that she and Storm had played a piano bar set at a lavish Hollywood party where Paris had been guest of honour.
"It was a private pool party up in the Hills, starting early evening and finishing late."
However, after their set, the pair were asked to leave by Paris as she didn't want them mingling with the other guests.
The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "They didn't get to speak to Paris much and once their bit was over they were asked to jog on. Paris' people made it clear they were not allowed to mingle with guests and had to leave. It wasn't the most glamorous of exits but Katie and Storm have huge connections with the US industry."
Despite getting through the early rounds of auditions with her Madonna-inspired performance, Katie faced getting the axe from the show after it was revealed she already had a US recording deal, which is against the rules.
However, the deal has been scrapped thanks to the programme's lawyers.
