Dominic Monaghan is 'married to TV'
'Lost' actor Dominic Monaghan has admitted he feels ''married'' to his TV projects, as he allows his work to take over his life
Dominic Monaghan feels like he "gets married" to his TV projects.
The British actor - who is best known for his role as Charlie in 'Lost' - admits he knows automatically if he wants to work on a TV project, and then allows the part to take over his life.
He explained: "I pick projects based on good scripts - and I really liked the script for 'FlashForward'. You know what? When I choose projects, I don't stipulate between film or theatre or television. I receive scripts and I read scripts - and when I read a script that's good, I then get married to it and talk to my agent about what happens next."
In the US television series - based on Robert J. Sawyer's science fiction novel - Dominic portrays quantum physicist Dr. Simon Campos, who is blamed for causing a worldwide 137-second blackout during which time people see visions of their future.
However, the part was carefully designed for him, because he was keen to move on from his 'Lost' alter-ego Charlie, and didn't want to portray someone American.
He explained: "I was actually in Hawaii when I read the 'FlashForward' script. I loved the pilot, but I called my agent and I said, 'I love the show, but there's nothing that I can do. I don't see a part in here for me - especially as I don't want to take a deeply American part away from someone who is authentically American. I don't want to pretend to be American when I'm just a bloke from Manchester.' My agent explained, 'Well, look. Let me talk with Executive Producers David and Jessica Goyer and see what they say.'
'Flashforward: The Complete Series' is available on DVD from Monday 27 September.
