Darren Day has joined 'Hollyoaks'.
The musical theatre star is delighted to have been cast as bad boy Danny Houston - the best friend of shady Brendan Brady (Emmet Scanlan) - and promises fans of the show won't be disappointed by the arrival of his scheming new character.
He said: "I've been a fan of the show for some time and this is a very exciting time with the show's recent reinvention. I'm delighted to join the cast."
Darren's new alter-ego will quickly integrate himself in the lives of the villagers, working closely with Cheryl Brady (Bronagh Waugh) as her silent partner in new business venture Chez Chez, and setting his sights on wooing brash Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper).
After a brief appearance on the show which will air in October, the 42-year-old actor will return to Hollyoaks village later in the year.
He explained: "I've really enjoyed filming with 'Hollyoaks' and I'm excited about coming back. Danny is the type of character any actor would kill to play and the part has been made even better as I'm working with great talent such as Claire, Emmett and Bronagh."
Producer Paul Marquess added: "Danny Houston is a dangerous but very charming character who makes an aggressive impact in his first episodes. Darren plays the part brilliantly and I'm delighted that we're able to bring him back later this year."
