Katie Waissel's deal scrapped
'X Factor' hopeful Katie Waissel can stay on the show after show lawyers managed to scrap her US record deal
Katie Waissel is relieved 'X Factor' TV bosses got her out of her US record deal so she can stay on the show.
The 24-year-old hopeful was "gutted" after being told she could be axed from the ITV1 series because rules state contestants can't have an existing contract, but the show's lawyers have managed to scrap her US record deal - which she signed earlier this year under the name Lola Fontaine - so she can remain in the competition.
The Madonna look-a-like said: "I am 100 per cent all clear to be in this competition. When I found out I might have to leave the competition I was gutted, absolutely gutted. Now all I can think about is I am free to do what I want to do, without any more issues."
Pretty Katie was being lined up by US record label Chamberlain Records for a second jazz album after they previously released her debut record under the name Lola Fontaine.
The starlet has also recorded under the name Katie Vogul and starred in a reality show whilst living in New York.
But the hair salon receptionist from Harewood, Hertfordshire - who claims she did not know she had broken the rules when she entered the pop star search show - is thankful to have a second chance.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I have worked so hard to even get this far. I could not believe someone was about to take that away from me.
"But I had to deal with it like a professional and keep my head down and pray."
