Patsy Kensit's confidence quest
Actress Patsy Kensit has revealed she is competing in BBC One's 'Strictly Come Dancing' in the hope of regaining the confidence she lost following the breakdown of her fourth marriage to DJ Jeremy Healy.
Patsy Kensit is competing in 'Strictly Come Dancing' in the hope it will improve her confidence.
The actress - who split from fourth husband DJ Jeremy Healy earlier this year - admitted she hopes to use the BBC One show to lose a few pounds after piling on weight following the breakdown of her marriage.
She said: "If I can get back my confidence - which I lost earlier this year - and drop a few pounds I'll be a very happy customer. I want to tone up and get fit. I'm enjoying all the rehearsals. I haven't laughed so much in such a long time. Fear traps everyone so you have to leave it at the door."
The 42-year-old star - who has two sons, James, 18, from her marriage to Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, and Lennon, 10, by Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher - explained her kids are backing her all the way in the dancing competition.
She added to Closer magazine: "My sons are so supportive - it's really sweet. Lennon said to me the other day, 'I'll still love you if you go out first, Mummy.'"
Patsy - who married first husband Dan Donovan in 1988 when she was just 19 - recently revealed she won't be tying the knot again.
She said: "This year has been truly, truly awful. I lost my confidence and ballooned from eight stone to 11. But I'm looking forward now, with one million per cent conviction, that I definitely won't be getting married again.
"It's embarrassing, humiliating, all those terrible emotions that make you want to run away and hide. I can't tell you how foolish and ashamed I feel."
