J. Alexander wants to judge BNTM
J. Alexander admits he ''would love'' to appear on the judging panel of 'Britain's Next Top Model', but has always been too busy
J. Alexander "would love" to be a judge on 'Britain's Next Top Model'.
The runway coach - who has regularly appeared on the judging panel and as a mentor on 'America's Next Top Model' since it launched in 2003 - admits he is keen to star in British or German versions of the show, but his schedule has always been too hectic.
He told BANG Showbiz: "They tried to get me on 'Britain's Next Top Model' but my schedule clashed. I would love to go on it, and I've already done Norway and Canada. Heidi Klum tried to get me to do 'Germany's Next Top Model', too."
Over the years, the model - also known as Miss J - has worked alongside industry experts including host Tyra Banks, photographer Nigel Barker and models Twiggy and Janice Dickenson.
However, J. admits his favourite co-judge of all time is Paula Porizkova.
He said: "Paulina Poriskova was my favourite co-judge because we're both Aries. We're both on point most of the time and she knows her stuff. And if you cut through all the craziness with Janice Dickinson - she really knows what she is talking about."
He also thinks new judge Andre Leon Talley - who is the former editor-at-large at America's Vogue magazine - needs to learn how to connect with the show's viewers.
He said: "At the beginning it was all new to him, I've had seven years on that show and I've had so many years on the panel and I know exactly how it all works. For Andre he has to reach the average person who loves fashion or who doesn't know anything about fashion in a way that they can understand him.
"I think once they get to know who he really is and then when he watches it back if he does, how he has to now address his public who watches it."
J Alexander is a guest W Fashion Insider as part of the casting for W London talent to work at the new W London Leicester Square due to open February 2011. To find out more about W's search for an Insider go to www.wlondon.co.uk/casting
