Simon Cowell quits X Factor?
Simon Cowell has sensationally revealed he could be quitting Britain's 'X Factor' for America - throwing the hit ITV1 show into jeopardy.
Simon Cowell has hinted he is quitting 'The X Factor'.
The music mogul has sparked rumours he is planning to leave the ITV1 show to concentrate on launching the American version of the reality series, after admitting he is yet to sign a new 'X Factor' contract for next year.
He told The Sun newspaper: "At the moment you are going to see me doing one show next year - and not one in England.
"I have a contract for this year and that is it."
The 50-year-old star is due to begin airing the US talent show next September - the exact time the British 'X Factor', which pulls in 12.5 million viewers - should be in full swing.
Despite the time clash, Simon admits the UK 'X Factor' could be rescheduled for a later date in November if he decides to continue with the show.
He said: "It will have to move. Do people want it back? I am going to sit it out for a few more weeks before I make a final decision. And it has to be fun. The minute it stops being fun, bye bye."
The multimillionaire also revealed he could axe TV show 'Britain's Got Talent' - and that judges on both shows, including Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden - face losing their jobs.
He said: "No-one is safe. No-one should feel they have the show guaranteed, including myself. I haven't decided if I am doing 'Britain's Got Talent'."
While ITV1 claimed they would be happy to rearrange dates to accommodate him, Simon refused to comment on what exactly he had lined up for the reality shows.
He added to OK! magazine: "We can't announce the changes yet but I can tell you there are going to be some changes in 'The X Factor' here in the UK and changes to 'Britain's Got Talent'. I think they are the right decisions, something had to give. I like the fact that the shows are going to have different time slots and different people on them. You need to change things up on these shows occasionally."
