N-Dubz' mentor, Byron Contostavlos, died with a remote control in his hand waiting to see the band's video.
The British hip-hop group were formed 11 years ago by Byron - who was lead rapper Dappy's father, as well as the group's manager- as a way of keeping his son away from gang violence, but he tragically died of a blocked artery just as they were on the road to success.
Dappy, who found Bryon's body explained: "He died, with the remote control in his hand, watching Channel U.
"Waiting for our video. I gave him mouth to mouth. Yes! Mouth to mouth, knocked on his head! His head was blue! Cold!
"The night after he died, we were on stage, in front of 2,000 people. Crying. Crying on stage.
"He knew he had a problem inside him. He could feel it. He had bronchitis in his lungs. Infect, infect, blocked artery."
The group - which is completed by Dappy's best friend Fazer and his cousin Tulisa - say that without the dedication and mentorship of Byron - known as Uncle B - they would have ended up in "prison, stabbed, jail or shot", and have dedicated their careers to his memory.
Fazer explained: "Me and Dappy were on the wrong path. Music is the saviour for us."
'Playing With Fire' rapper Dappy added: "We were naughty! Me and Fazer, we used to go out on the streets and cause madness. We could have went bam! Prison, stabbed, jail or shot, finished! All that dedication and discipline was Uncle B. All of it."
