Squarepusher - the album (4 stars)

Hello Everything (Warp)

Such are Tom Jenkinson’s skills that he is the kind of muso who can impress stoic Aphex Twin dedicates as readily as famous fans of his bass guitar skills like Flea. For ten albums now he has been carving out some truly single minded shapes, some nutso genius, some just nutso. Hello Everything is by his standards, a relatively easy ride, swinging hurriedly between burbling moogisms that border on muzak to solvent-driven drum and bass delirium. At the core however is a melodic tootle, be it from Tomkinson’s ear bending bass playing or through his deftness of touch with a synth. Uncompromised for a decade and still worth listening to, an achievement few could manage.
