Claire Peacock accused of abuse
'Coronation Street's Claire Peacock (Julia Haworth) is to find herself at the centre of abuse allegations after Aadi Alahan is rushed to hospital unconscious after being in her care
'Coronation Street's Claire Peacock will be suspected of hurting Aadi Alahan.
The former nanny - played by Julia Haworth - is horrified when the youngster is rushed to hospital with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after he and twin sister Asha had spent the night in her care.
Julia said: "Claire had noticed that Aadi had seemed a bit lethargic. But she put it down to the fact he'd slept over and might be feeling a bit tired.
"She's horrified when she hears how serious his condition is."
Claire had left the twins briefly with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) and Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson) but fails to tell the youngsters' parents Dev (Jimi Harkishin) and Sunita (Shobna Gulati) that she had gone out without them - resulting in her falling under suspicion for the boy's injuries.
Julia explained: "She decided to keep quiet about letting the kids stay with Sian and Sophie. She thought she was being responsible leaving them with two girls she's known for quite a long time - but when the truth finally comes out the finger of suspicion will be firmly pointed in her direction."
Julia is set to depart the soap later this year with her on-screen husband Ashley (Steven Arnold).
Though she is remaining tight-lipped on how Claire - who suffered post-natal depression following the birth of her son Freddie in 2006 - will depart, she hinted her upcoming storyline with the Alahans is at the root of it.
She teased: "Claire's past will return to haunt her when her mental health issues are brought to light again.
"The situation with the Alahans will make her re-evaluate her life."
