Bill Roache thinks his new screen son is "cultured, sophisticated and handsome".
The 'Coronation Street' actor - who is soon to be joined on the soap by his real-life sons Linus, 46, and 24-year-old James - has praised his offspring for mastering his character Ken Barlow's secret relatives perfectly.
Linus is set to play Ken's secret son Lawrence, and James his undiscovered grandson, after Ken learns an ex-girlfriend from the 60s had his child without telling him.
Talking about Lawrence, Bill said: "He's everything Ken would want a son to be - cultured, sophisticated and handsome of course."
The 78-year-old actor is the longest-serving member of the 'Coronation Street' team, having started on the show in 1960, when he dated Susan Cunningham.
He told Soaplife magazine: "Norris and Emily find the letter behind the skirting board at number three. It's been there since 1960 and is from an old girlfriend of Ken's called Susan Cunningham, asking if they could meet up after the split. Ken's intrigued and decides to try and track her down."
The storyline has been conducted as part of the show's upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations, and Bills five decades on the show.
Bill recently said: "I can think of no better way to celebrate my 50th anniversary on 'Coronation Street' than to be working alongside both of my sons. I am looking forward to it immensely."
