Karen Hassan overwhelmed by Oaks
'Hollyoaks' newcomer Karen Hassan has revealed joining the hit Channel 4 soap was an ''overwhelming'' experience to begin with
Karen Hassan found joining the cast of 'Hollyoaks' an "overwhelming" experience.
The actress - who plays newcomer Lynsey Nolan in the hit Channel 4 soap - admitted appearing in 'Hollyoaks Later' two years ago as Cheryl Brady's (Bronagh Waugh) gave her the opportunity to get to know her fellow cast members, and meant she was "more relaxed" when she joined the show on a full-time basis two months ago.
She said: "The first time I came over it was surreal because obviously, I was a big fan of the show, so it was a bit overwhelming, but then when I came back after two years, because I'd had that initial experience, I wasn't so wide-eyed and in shock. I'm definitely more relaxed this time around."
Karen revealed her character is being brought into the soap in the hope of "ruffling a few feathers" and causes a stir amongst the male residents.
She explained on the official 'Hollyoaks' website: "She comes into the show as Cheryl's best friend. They've been lifelong friends and when Cheryl comes into a bit of money she decides to have her bosom-buddy come over to spend some time with her.
"My character decides for a bit of adventure to strut onto the village, and she quickly gets a job in the Accident and Emergency department. Within about two weeks of being there she falls in love - as you do in Soapland - and then starts ruffling a few feathers."
