Stefan Booth swaps Oaks for Walford
Former 'Hollyoaks' heartthrob Stefan Booth is to join 'EastEnders' as the handsome fiance of Tanya Branning next month
Stefan Booth is to join 'EastEnders' as the handsome fiance of Tanya Branning.
The former 'Hollyoaks' actor - who has also starred in ITV1's 'The Bill' - has been signed up with the BBC One soap on a short-term contract but hopes to extend it later in the year.
Stefan will play Greg, who turns up in Albert Square next month to work on the reconstruction of the Queen Vic pub, after it burns down in a fire.
But while fiance Tanya (Jo Joyner) is totally in love and flaunts her husband-to-be around the square - her ex-husband, Max Branning - played by Jake Wood - is furious.
And it's not long before the womanising insurance salesman locks horns with his love rival Greg.
A show source said: "Max has his fair share of women but he still has a soft spot for Tanya despite all they have been through. Don't be too surprised if he makes mincemeat out of Greg."
Stefan, meanwhile - who played Sergeant Mark Rollins in police drama 'The Bill' - admits he has been a fan of long-running soap 'EastEnders' since he was a child.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Even as a kid, when I wasn't running around making mischief, we'd sit in front of the TV watching EastEnders."
